My stumble upon David's Tea

I'm by no means trying to advertise their store but I can’t help it… I LOVE THEM!

Although, my first tea love wasn’t them at all...  Almost 10 years ago, my boyfriend at the time took me to this tiny little tea salon in Montreal called Camellia Sinensis. I fell in love with place. It had this zen mood, so calming: they played soft Asian music and the place was quiet like a library. If fact, if you talked to loudly , they would hit a big gong they had in the corner of their little salon to let you know the sound was too loud! At the time, they had 2 rooms for their customers: a sitting area up front with a high counter top bar and some tea made pastries and then in the back, couches where you could play checkers.  I remember going there during my college exam period – SO RELAXING! I’d always order their Moroccan mint tea with orange blossom. They had this whole serving ceremony, it made the tea experience that much more enjoyable. The place has changed quite a bit since then. They opened their own boutique from which they sell teas they gathered from around the world. They even opened other locations on the island... They are always busy so be prepared to wait for a seat!

I have been to many tea house around the states and I cannot say many compared to this one in Montreal. The overall experience is what made it so lovely and made you go back!

When it comes to David's tea, it's a different experience. In the city where I live at least, there isn't a sitting area to savor your tea and whatnot. You come in, experience with all your senses the teas which are exposed all over their "Tea wall", divided by the kind of tea they are (White, Green, Oolong, Pu'erh, Mate, Rooibos, Herbal). I would personally say that they specialised in flavored tea. If you are looking at experiencing all sorts of party flavors this is the right place for you. If you like your plain old Silver Needle white tea or again straight green tea, or breakfast tea, you might not be totally happy with all the teas they carry as they have a LOT of mixed teas which is fantastic for beginners. Not only do I love their teas, but they tend to hire the such great people with fantastic personalities. Heck, I'd love to work in their store just for the atmosphere!

In their store, they offer absolutely anything you will need to create your perfect tea at home: Teapot, mugs, travel mugs, filter, sweeteners, you want it, you name it! This week they even introduced little tea snacks! You can ask their tea guides for help regarding the best way to prepare each teas and they'll even help you identify with tea you would prefer best.

Recently, they even added a reward system. Each dollar you spend is earned towards free tea at the end of their season and you get free tea in return! LOVE IT!

Find your nearest David's Tea and check it out :) I'm sure you'll fall in love with them as well!

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask. I can review their teas for you with great pleasure!
